Hello EYC!

Community Breakfast on Sunday; afternoon activity at the Church of the Advocate; MLK Day events.

Sunday morning January 17th will be a community breakfast at 10:10am.  The Senior High Confirmation group is invited to bring breakfast over to the Warner Building for our class with Brian Cole. 
 
Our afternoon activity will be helping with a meal and worship at Church of the Advocate.  Our EYC will serve alongside a group of students from Christ school to prepare and provide a meal to the 175 homeless people who regularly attend the worship. Plan to meet at COA  (located in the lower level of Trinity Episcopal)12:45 till 2:45pm

I believe the Grove Park MLK breakfast on Saturday is sold out but, Franklin and I would be happy to meet with All Souls EYC members for the following events ....
Monday Peace Walk at noon
the 6pm Candle light service at St. Matthias Episcopal Church
& / or the Thursday evening MLK Jr. youth event at UNCA (See Flyer below for more details)

MLK JR  Celebrations:

Other events recognizing the King Holiday weekend:

The 29th annual Prayer Breakfast, featuring Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist Leonard Pitts, Jr., will take place at the Grove Park Inn Grand Ballroom at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 16.

Beginning at noon Monday, January 18, the Association will lead a Peace Walk and Rally from Nazareth First Baptist Church, at 46 Pine Street (corner of MLK Boulevard), to Martin Luther King Park. The march is cosponsored by the City of Asheville and Buncombe County.

Monday at 6:00 p.m. the Candlelight Service, honoring community organizations that work to fulfill Dr. King’s dream, will be held at St. Matthias Episcopal Church at One Dundee Street, off S. Charlotte Street.

Tickets for the Prayer Breakfast cost $20 for adults and $15 for youth. All other events are free. For more information, contact Oralene Simmons at 828-281-1624 or the MLK Association office at 828-335-6896.
