Sunday, March 7 and 14: The Solace of Fierce Landscapes: Exploring desert and mountain spirituality
Led by Todd Donatelli
Using Belden Lane’s book of this name as a source, we will explore the spirituality of what we might understand as the empty spiritual places, also known as the apophatic tradition: finding God in ‘the silence beyond language.’ From St. Catherine and John of the Cross to modern writers, our forbearers have found these not to be places of ultimate absence, but places where emptiness led to profound understanding of the Sacred.
Sunday, March 21: Dane and Constance Perry: Traces of the Trade
The Perrys, he a descendant of one of the largest slave trading families in the Northeast and she a descendant of slaves through the port of Charleston, will speak of their journey, both personal and cultural, through the realities of race in America. The Perrys will also be preaching at the morning services on this Sunday.
