Presentations on Medical Ethics in Everyday Life
Dr. William F. May, the Cary M. Maguire Professor of Ethics Emeritus, Southern Methodist University, will be in Asheville for two events addressing medical ethics in everyday life.
Dr. May was a founding fellow of the Hastings Center for Bioethics, and served on the President’s Commission on Bioethics. He is currently a Fellow of the Institute of Practical Ethics and Public Life at the University of Virginia. Dr. May is the author of several books, including The Physician’s Covenant: Images of the Healer in Medical Ethics, and The Patient’s Ordeal.
- Dr. May will speak on Thursday evening, February 18, at 7:00 pm, at First Baptist Church of Asheville. The event is free of charge and open to the public. You do not need to register for this event.
- On Friday morning, February 19, from 8:30 am to noon, Dr. May will present a half-day workshop at First Baptist Church of Asheville. He will be joined by a panel including The Very Reverend Todd Donatelli, All Souls Cathedral, Reverend Guy Sayles, First Baptist Church, Sharon K. West, RN, BCHC, Kathy Mecham, PhD, Mars Hill College, Rabbi Rob Cabelli, Congregation Beth Israel. This event is primarily for health care providers and clergy. Nursing contact hours will be applied for. This event is free of charge, but you need to register by emailing Ann Thomas or calling her at (828) 213-1080.
