Zoom Buggy and Dream Pillow

KinderPhoto01.jpg

ZOOM BUGGY! explores the many ways Baby and Parent can Zoom! Experience the “vroom” of a rocket ship, a train, a wagon, and a canoe--all through a variety of instruments, songs, and dances. You and your baby move in all these ways to help him develop balance, strength, coordination as well as vision and depth perception.  As we zoom along, you, the parent, provide all the special effects—making the zooms and the squeaks—noises that your baby uses to begin making sense of language.  Plus, you’ll learn songs you and your baby can sing together when you’re strolling, taking a ride, or pulling a wagon, so that music isn’t just in the classroom it’s in your life

DREAM PILLOW  a new 8-week session of Kindermusik Village, for children newborn to 18+ months, starts December 4, at 9:30.  In this class, you’re invited to enjoy bedtime closeness with your baby at any time of the day—by listening more closely, sharing the gifts of singing, dancing, and talking with your baby. This title brings images of rocking, cuddling, singing, and lulling to sleep.  But leading up to sleepy time are many upbeat and playful activities.  Babies and Adults will swirl with humongous scarves to a dreamy cloud dance “Meet Me Tonight in Dreamland.” They’ll also play baby- appropriate instruments. It’s easy to weave many of the class songs and activities into your families’ daily routines.

 MILK AND COOKIES

Imagine the aroma of baking cookies, the coziness of the family kitchen, the chatter among sisters, brothers, grandmas, granddads, mom and dad, and the anticipation and excitement of having friends come to visit. These moments at home are times to be shared and treasured. These special moments are captured in Milk & Cookies.

As in the other units of Our Time, the central focus of Milk & Cookies is the toddler's need for security balanced with his need for independence. Milk & Cookies promotes interaction between parent and child where the parent gently guides his child's learning through familiar everyday home activities such as cooking, dusting, and washing clothes.  Eating cupcakes, blowing on hot cross buns, wiggling like jelly, going grocery shopping, and making tea are all represented in familiar songs, dances, and instrumental exploration

At home materials include 2 Literature Books,  1  Beautiful wooden stir-xylophone, 1  Carry-bag/insulated lunch bag, 2  At Home CDs with more than 90 minutes of music, 1 Home Activity Book with 39 fun-filled activities to share at home

Semester 3: for K and 1

Mondays at 3:00 p.m.  New Students welcome.

Kindermusik for the Young Child is a sequential program with four 15-week semesters.KinderPhotoYoungCh-1.JPG

The first year provides foundation for studying piano; the third and fourth are an introduction to string and wind instruments.

While each semester builds on the previous, there is sufficient review that new children may join in semesters two and three. Each semester continues to involve children in singing, listening, playing instruments, and moving expressively.

All "At Home" materials include a folder, attendance stickers, ID stickers, home DC, and family songbook. In addition there is the one-time purchase for semester one, of carry-bag and glockenspiel. And in semester three, the dulcimer kit; semester four, the recorder.

KinderPhotoYoungCh-1a.JPG Semester 1 broadens the child’s musical experience through the introduction of the glockenspiel. Basic rhythmic and pitch notation are explored through movement, games, and manipulatives.

Children also learn about percussion and brass instruments and are introduced to Mozart and some of his music, including The Magic Flute.

Semester 2 further develops the child’s instrument-playing skills while developing the greatest instrument of all—the voice! Concepts of piano/forte, crescendo/decrescendo, and legato/staccato are featured. Information about string and wind instruments is shared as well as an KinderPhotoYoungCh-4.JPGintroduction to Beethoven.

Peter and the Wolf provides an exciting introduction to the whole orchestra.

Pressure-free, developmentally appropriate concepts help effectively prepare children for formal music instruction after age seven.

Semester 3 introduces the dulcimer (a 2-string, corrugated cardboard instrument to assemble and decorate at home that has a remarkably fine sound.) Other concepts include call and response, improvisation, meter, further staff notation, and a touch of Tchaikovsky. Topics include the music of Appalachia, the sea, our Afro-American heritage, Native Americans, and the world of dance.

KinderPhotoYoungCh-3.JPG Semester 4 brings the sounds of wind through the playing of the recorder! Many new musical terms are learned, as well as all the notes of the C scale.
