Monastics have long understood that theirs is not a vocation of avoiding God's world, but one where relationship to God was found and formed in engagement with all of the created order.  "Engagement with the world about us" has been and integral and vital voice of God for this community.  Through our involvement with the issues facing our local and global community, God has revealed to us more deeply our inherent connection with all people and with the whole of creation.
