Christians for a United Community

Christians For a United Community, better known as CUC, is an organization committed to understanding racism, economic disparity, and educational disparity in Asheville through a Biblically-based context.

In 2003, a group of representatives from 15 churches, representing both white churches and churches of color, gathered to walk the walk of “doing justice,” of taking seriously what Jesus took seriously. All Souls had seven representatives in that initiating group.

Today we are still part of that group, as a Mission Partner that provides financial support and representation to the work of CUC. CUC has three foci:

  1. continuing the work of dismantling the root causes of racism, economic disparity and educational disparity in Asheville;
  2. nurturing relationships and understandings between/among the diverse churches who are mission partners; and
  3. continuing the growth of community within the steering committee, the church representatives.

All Souls has a commitment to “doing justice,” and CUC is one arm of that effort. Those of us from All Souls on the steering committee want to keep you informed as to what CUC is doing and how you can be involved.

Please feel free to contact one of us if you want more information.
