The Rev. David Nard
Ordained to the Diaconate in 1985 at Grace Church in Asheville NC, David has served in several capacities during his 22 years as a Deacon. For 10 years, David served Bishop Robert Johnson as Archdeacon of the Diocese.
After serving a number of parishes in the Asheville area he was assigned to The Cathedral of All Souls in 2002.
He is a past president of the North American Association for the Diaconate and was honored with their St. Stephens Award for this service in the development of the Diaconate in WNC and his work as a Hospital Chaplain.
He is a member of the Third Order of the Society of St. Francis. David holds a B.F.A. degree in Theatre from East Carolina University, and a M.A. degree in Theatre from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He completed the Diaconate Formation Program in the Diocese of WNC.
David’s full time work and ministry is as a Staff Chaplain in the Mission Hospitals Health System. He is married to Mary Alice Nard, and they have 3 grown children. He also enjoys liturgical design and planning, singingm movies and good restaurants.
