Participate in the building of a Habitat for Humanity House!

Starting in October the Cathedral is participating, along with other Asheville area churches, in the building of the latest Habitat for Humanity house. Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity (AAHH) is beginning construction of Episcopal House VII on October 2nd. The Construction is scheduled to last until the first week of December.

We are building a 4 bedroom, 2 level house with a front and a back porch for an as yet undetermined family.  The jobsite is in Enka Hills subdivision, off Sandhill Road in West Asheville.

There are a variety of ways that anyone can volunteer to participate, such as;

    A) All Souls is responsible for having a pair of volunteers on site for construction on the following dates:

            October 2, 4, 6, 10, 17, 19, 23, 24 (All Souls clergy), 26, 27, 31
            November 1, 2, 3, 13 (All Souls staff), 14, 16, 21, 27, 29
            December 4

    B) On Saturday, October 6 All Souls is responsible for providing sandwiches and chips for 20 volunteers. We will need volunteer(s) to prepare them and get them to the jobsite by 11:15 AM.

    C) The Habitat for Humanity Home store is very important to the financing of these projects and they need volunteers to operate the store.

    D) As always, any donations to AAHH would be appreciated. You can find the various ways to donate at www.ashevillehabitat.org/donations  (Be sure to specify Episcopal House VII on donations.)

Workdays at the jobsite are 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM with lunch at 11:30 and two short breaks.  We need enthusiasm and a willingness to work, not any particular skills or level of fitness. No one will be asked to do anything with which they are not comfortable.

All volunteers on the jobsite need to be 16 years of age or older.
