Around One Table

From "Moonstruck" to "Crimes and Misdemeanors", from "Babette's Feast" to Jesus, gathering around the table is where relationship is forged.

Engaged by the College of Bishops (Episcopal Church) and CREDO, researchers from Penn State, the University of Cincinnati and Illinois State have provided information from a three year study of the Episcopal.  Their research is reported in a document entitled, "Around One Table."

Around One Table offers a mirror to reflect upon The Episcopal Church and its perceived identities,” commented Dr. Timothy Sedgwick, professor at Virginia Theological Seminary.  "A center is clear: the Episcopal Church understanding of Christian faith as Christ centered, grounded in Scripture, born by the church as sacramental, mediated by the Book of Common Prayer, and creating a pastoral community.”

A community gathered around common practice and ritual, listening, speaking, being silent, being fed, going out.  This is our identity, this is where we find life.

I invite you to read a story about this work by clicking the link below.  Amid the many  press reports about dire life in the church, perhaps it could be said, "Reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated."

Please also join us in  welcoming Tim Sedgwick of Virginia Seminary to All Souls this weekend, first with the Zabriskie Lectures this Saturday and in our 9 and 11:15 liturgies and Adult Forum on Sunday.  Information about the Zabriskie Lectures is found through the following click link:
