The Gift of Darkness
A recent study has linked an increase in breast cancer incidence to the amount of neighborhood outside lighting near the homes of women. This and other biological and social affects of our lighting up of evening sky were the subject of an article in National Geographic. Snow days and Lent
One of the great things about a good snow is the quiet. There is a deep grace in a whole community getting quiet- both audibly quiet and internally quiet. Snow days are like a bonus sabbath, yet an unplanned one where the whole community gets to relax its schedule. Which has me thinking about Lent. read more...
