Ty was born and raised on a large farm near Franklin, Pennsylvania, in the western foothills of the Alleghenies, a “middle child” in a Roman Catholic family of three boys and a girl. His educational background includes degrees in history and theology. He is married to Carol Jablonski who is currently serving as interim priest at St. George’s, Asheville.
Ty and Carol were received into the Episcopal Church in 2000 in the Diocese of Southwest Florida. They both attended Virginia Seminary from 2003-6. Ty has been active in congregations in the dioceses of Southwest Florida, Virginia, North Carolina, and Washington, DC., having retired to Asheville in 2016. His work experience has included IT, marketing, and industrial electrician in energy and tech companies.He has also served in scouting and environmental education. Ignatian spirituality is a significant part of his spiritual journey and practice.
When you ask him, “What is it that deacons do?” his reply is, “Whatever you need me to do that helps you do your best in your ministry is what my ministry is all about!” Ty sees the role of the deacon as supporting and encouraging lay persons in their ministries, helping others discern what is spiritually meaningful in their worlds of family, work and recreation.
