The church office is open December 30th and 31st until 5pm and will be
closed on Thursday, January 1st. The office will reopen on
Friday, January 2nd from 9am- 5pm.
2015 Pledge and Budget Update: For 2015 we have received 287 pledges for $629,572.00. We are grateful for your pledges for 2015. At this time we have a deficit between our total income and budgeted expenses for 2015. As there is information not available until the end of the year that may change this deficit figure, the Vestry determined to vote on a final budget at a called meeting in early January. We again thank you for your pledges for 2015.
Adult Forum January 4, 2015: Atonement and Human Relationship. How we are reconciled with God and one another? Led by Todd Donatelli
The Daughters of the King will meet Sunday, January 4, 2015, at 10:15 a.m. in the CE room. All women interested in learning more about the Daughters are cordially invited to attend.
Consider yourself invited to “Bible and Beer” which will resume its Thursday evening meetings on January 8th. This lay-led group meets at Appalachian Vintners (745 Biltmore) for a serious and thoughtful study of the gospel for the coming Sunday, while enjoying beer or root beer and the fellowship of each other. The bible text is provided, but bring other translations to add to the exploration of the scriptures. Meet at 5:30pm, with study from 6-7pm. Contact person is Scott Hart at .
Room in the Inn. All Souls will host up to 12 homeless women in our church the week of January 11th. You are invited to offer hospitality through helping to prepare a home cooked meal one evening, bag lunches for the ladies to take each morning, shared overnight supervision, or other ways to support these women as they work to regain footing in their lives. Service of Healing and Holy Eucharist Please join us for a Service of Healing and Holy Eucharist on Thursday, January 15, at 7:00. PM in the church. This contemplative service offers an opportunity to be still and to be refreshed. Anointing and the laying on of hands for healing are offered. Charlotte Cleghorn and Thomas Murphy are presiders. Music is offered by Karen Turner and Jacque Combs.
There are two openings for Flower memorials in January, the 18th and 25th. If you would like to honor a family member or friend on one of these Sundays, please contact me to get the details. The Come to the Table project works with people of faith to relieve hunger and sustain local agriculture. The project’s leaders include farmers, farm workers, food pantry directors, community gardeners, ministers, public employees and lay leaders. Come to the Table is a project of the Rural Life Committee of the North Carolina Council of Churches and The Rural Advancement Foundation International (RAFI-USA). The Church of the Advocate: The Clothes Closet needs blankets, jackets and sweaters and sweatshirts (especially for men), sneakers and boots, warm vests and caps, gloves and mittens, belts, T-shirts, and we’re out of white socks. Our women need sneakers, long casual dresses, bags, underwear, and totes. As usual we’re out of sleeping bags, backpacks, and carry-alls. Your donations brighten the lives of our homeless congregation.
